Thank you for following our story in the TigerAspect/Channel 4 television series "A Place in Greece"
Welcome to our website. Giving you more details and background behind the story so far...!
AND KEEP WATCHING-THERE IS MORE TO COME....!
How many times have you been on holiday, had a really great time and the day before you have to go, said, "I don't want to go home!"
Well this is the background to how two ordinary guys made such a statement and decided to actually do it. They moved lock stock and barrel to the beautiful island of Crete. In this case the "they" includes their family, 2 labradors and 3 cats.
Probably making the decision to move was easier than the actual deed! It is said that moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do in life. If you add the distance involved and the change in lifestyle that inevitably follows moving to a new country, then this will give you some idea of the magnitude of the task that lay ahead. What do you need to take, what will you need and more importantly what can you get rid of that you won't need again?
We also wanted to design and have our own house built, rather than buy an off the peg design on a development. Another difficult and complicated decision taken and never regretted at all.
A self contained groundfloor apartment was also to be included. For this we needed the support of long term friends Lesley & Pete, who would use the groundfloor as a holiday home when it is not being commercially let.
Perhaps because this was going to be an interesting project, it seemed obvious to contact TigerAspect when we saw their advert looking for people who were planning to move abroad. We felt that our project was one that would be interesting and perhaps informative. As we have since found out, so many people want to move abroad and live in a warm climate, but are not able to do so because of family or other circumstances. It IS a bold step, but one we have never regretted. It may not be what everyone wants to do, but if we have encouraged others or helped them live out their dreams then we are genuinely pleased to have assisted in our own little way.
